Check Science prerequisites and recency

John Abbott's Science page lists Secondary V Chemistry, Secondary V Physics and Secondary V Mathematics in the Technical & Scientific or Science option as program prerequisites. The Registrar's admissions page maps the required course codes and says prerequisites completed more than five years ago receive lower priority; contact Admissions before relying on an older course.

Understand the Pathways conditions

Applicants missing one or more high-school prerequisites can apply to 081.06 Pathways to Science with 200.B1 Science as the intended program. The college describes a one- or two-semester route. Its current page retains detailed planner language from an older Pathways planning model; treat that as latest-available guidance and confirm the current plan with Admissions.

That page describes a first semester of up to six courses, including Strategies for Success in Sciences and missing prerequisite or introductory courses. Continuing requires satisfactory performance, successful Strategies and successful prerequisite work; a failed prerequisite can lead to refusal or cancellation. Any later program change is reviewed by Admissions, so Pathways remains separate from admission to Science.

Preserve program duration exceptions

John Abbott's current inventory includes two-year pre-university programs, a three-year Sciences and Social Science Double DEC, three-year career programs and one- or two-semester preparatory routes. An intensive two-year career option is available to students who already completed a DEC or all General Education courses. Program numbers and prerequisites can change, so use the exact current row.

Decision checklist

  • Compare your transcript to the exact course codes.
  • Ask whether an older prerequisite is accepted before selecting a route.
  • Do not treat Pathways completion as automatic admission to Science.
