Northwestern Polytechnic Guide

Northwestern Polytechnic now requires a Grande Prairie-first campus plan.

Use the current campus model

Northwestern Polytechnic announced on March 17, 2026 that it was moving to a single-campus model. Fairview operations were scheduled to wind down in August 2026. Programming was moving to the main Grande Prairie campus and the adjacent Skilled Trades Training Centre. Named health programs use the Health Education Centre at Grande Prairie Regional Hospital. A prospective student should therefore treat Grande Prairie as the current campus base rather than plan around an older Fairview listing.

Start with the live catalogue

The live program catalogue spans certificates, diplomas, apprenticeships, full degrees, Continuing Education and micro-credentials. That list is a discovery tool. The exact program page remains the controlling place for credential, curriculum, admission requirements and delivery. Confirm the intended intake and location before submitting an application, because the institutional transition and changing program inventory make an old campus or catalogue snapshot especially risky.

Separate ongoing and transition programs

The transition notice names Fall 2026 Grande Prairie apprenticeship delivery in eleven trades, including Automotive Service Technician, Electrician, Heavy Equipment Technician, Plumber and Welder. It also says Health Care Aide and Practical Nurse continue at the Health Education Centre. ThinkBIG was completing final intakes before the Finning program concluded in April 2027, while select Veterinary Technology courses were temporary from September 2026 to January 2027 for graduating students. Those transition arrangements should not be marketed as open-ended options for new applicants.

Build one decision record

Build a decision record with the exact program name, credential, intake, delivery location, admission page and current cost estimate. Then add housing only after the location is confirmed. This guide uses current Grande Prairie housing and 2026–27 tuition evidence. It does not use the still-live Fairview housing body as current prospective-student guidance because that page conflicts with the dated single-campus announcement.

Decision checklist

  • Use Grande Prairie as the current campus base.
  • Confirm the exact program and intake page.
  • Treat transition-only offerings as time-limited.

Open the official page again before applying, accepting an offer, paying, selecting housing, or relying on a transfer or immigration pathway.

Educational guidance only. Requirements, prices, transfers, housing, immigration eligibility, and availability can change; use the official links in this guide before acting.

Plan your next step

Reopen the exact official program page for your intake and applicant category. Save the requirement, cost, campus, and deadline evidence you used, then confirm any uncertainty with the institution.
