Homestay or an independent rental
Langara’s international budget page states that the College does not have on-campus residences. It points students toward Homestay, friends or family, and off-campus rentals. Langara Homestay is operated by the College and says host families complete home inspections, criminal-record checks, interviews and ongoing evaluations.
Langara’s housing-resources guidance warns students about rental scams, recommends checking the address and viewing a property before signing, and says the College does not endorse third-party listings. Confirm the lease, furnishings, deposits and cancellation terms with the actual housing provider; no general rental amount is used here because housing contracts differ.
The current Langara Homestay program includes a private furnished bedroom with a bed, desk and storage, three meals daily, laundry and Wi-Fi access. A Homestay Coordinator helps before arrival and during the stay, with after-hours assistance for urgent situations. These are host-family homes, not rooms in a College residence building.
Apply early and compare the full cost
Apply at least two months before your program starts. Homestay can begin up to three days before the program report date; arrange separate accommodation if you arrive earlier. For optional airport pickup, submit flight details and payment at least two weeks before arrival. The program serves Regular and Continuing Studies students; short-term students should request their own fee details.
The current program page lists $1,450 per month, a $580 placement fee and a $155 administration fee each semester, in Canadian dollars. First and last months are payable in advance. Optional airport pickup is $160 and custodian service is $550. These are the published rates retrieved September 13, 2026; the page does not name a future academic cycle. Request the application package and written cancellation terms before paying.
Do not budget from Langara’s older international living-cost tables: those are labelled 2021–2022 or 2012–2022 and show different Homestay figures. For an independent rental, compare the full commute, utilities, meal costs and lease conditions. Langara’s housing-resources page provides search guidance but does not inspect or endorse each third-party listing.
