Choose Oshawa or Whitby from the program record
Durham's program directory ties each offering to a credential, length, campus and changing intake status.

Decision checklist
- Record the campus on the exact program page.
- Check the live intake and delivery status before applying.
- Plan residence and travel around the actual timetable.
Use the date for your intended start
Equal-consideration dates and later application availability depend on the intake and program demand.
Equal-consideration dates
Durham lists February 1 for fall equal consideration. It lists October 1 for winter. It lists February 1 for spring. For highly competitive programs, your official supporting documents and transcripts must reach Ontario Colleges by the applicable date. Later applications may be considered if space remains. Selection can include program-specific records, tests, portfolios or interviews.
For January 2027, Durham lists October 1, 2026 for equal consideration. It lists November 1 for confirmation. It lists November 11 for the tuition deposit. For May 2027, it lists February 1, March 1 and March 10 respectively. These are general future-student milestones. The program page and offer control applicant-specific requirements.
Program requirements
For the Computer Programming example, Durham lists an Ontario Secondary School Diploma or mature student status. It also lists Grade 12 English C or U. It lists Grade 12 mathematics C, M or U. Its program page sends domestic applicants to OntarioColleges.ca. It sends international applicants to Durham's international application portal. Use the route and document rules for your applicant category. Meeting a minimum does not guarantee admission.
The full sequence for each start
Durham offers more than 145 programs. Its future-students page lists the full sequence for each start: equal consideration, confirmation, tuition deposit, web registration, the final date to meet offer conditions, Academic Welcome and the first day of classes. For January 2027 that runs from October 1, 2026 to classes on January 11, 2027, with conditions due by December 4, 2026. May 2027 classes begin May 3, 2027.
When we checked on October 3, 2026, the milestones for a September 2027 start were not posted yet. For comparison, the September 2026 cycle used February 1 for equal consideration. It used May 1 for confirmation and June 15 for the tuition deposit.
Highly competitive programs
Durham expects these programs to be highly competitive: Community Integration through Cooperative Education, Communicative Disorders Assistant, Dental Hygiene, Occupational Therapist Assistant and Physiotherapist Assistant. The list also includes Paramedic (regular and compressed) and Practical Nursing (regular and Flex). Seats go first to Ontario residents. Then they go to residents of other provinces and territories. Then they go to applicants from other countries. If your marks in a required subject aren't available yet, you must be registered in it.

Compare credential, duration, location and work experience
The sample programs show why the exact Durham offering matters more than a broad subject label.
Compare credentials and campuses
Computer Programming is a four-semester Ontario College Diploma at Oshawa. Its first semester includes communication, hardware, programming, networking, databases and Mathematics for IT. Electrical Techniques is a two-semester Ontario College Certificate at Whitby. These credentials serve different goals, so compare the course sequence and admission requirements rather than choosing only by subject name.
The BBA in Human Resources Management is a six-semester Oshawa degree. It has a published work-integrated-learning component. The three-year Bachelor of Construction Management is listed at Whitby. It has a mandatory 14-week work term. A work-experience label does not establish availability, placement or eligibility for another program.
Example: Practical Nursing
Practical Nursing is a five-semester Ontario College Diploma at Oshawa. On October 3, 2026 it listed January 2027, September 2027 and January 2028 intakes, each with its own semester sequence. Durham names it among the programs it expects to be highly competitive, and the page says it's highly competitive for international applicants too.
The full program range
Durham has more than 145 programs. These include certificates, diplomas, advanced diplomas, graduate certificates, degrees, fast-track programs and a diploma-to-degree business route. Programs are split between the Oshawa and Whitby campuses. The campus on the program page decides your commute and the residence you'd apply to.

Separate tuition, ancillary fees and intake-specific aid
Durham publishes standard tuition boundaries, separate ancillary charges and a General Bursary route aligned to the student's start month.
Durham's 2026–27 standard one-semester tuition is $1,388.24 domestic. The international standard adds a $6,356.22 premium. These figures exclude ancillary fees, books, supplies, technology, learning materials and off-campus activity costs; nonstandard programs can differ. Use the fee estimator and account summary for the actual program and intake.
More about costs and financial aid
The General Bursary uses one application per academic year, selected for the student's September, January or May entry. Durham expects students to apply for other available funding, including OSAP, before bursary consideration. The 2026–27 dates page lists October 23, 2026 for September entrants, February 19, 2027 for January entrants and June 25, 2027 for May entrants.
Durham says eligible applicants to a degree program with a combined, non-weighted average of at least 75% will be considered for a first-year Degree Entrance Scholarship. The current tiers are $500 at 75%, $1,500 at 80%, $2,000 at 85% and $3,000 at 90%, and the amounts are subject to change. The dedicated page defines eligibility only through degree-program applicants and the stated average. It does not publish residency, intake or other-funding exclusions. Check the program page or Admission Services before budgeting for the award.

Decision checklist
- Use the fee estimator for the exact program.
- Keep ancillary, materials and housing costs separate.
- Choose the General Bursary form for the correct intake.
Use the service route and location that fit the task
Both campuses provide study and recreation routes, while MyDC and the student association organize different parts of support and participation.
Find academic and travel support
MyDC links students to registration, account and student-service tasks. Student Academic Learning Services provides subject support, peer tutoring and online workshops. Durham lists libraries at Oshawa and Whitby, but individual appointments and specialized services may have their own delivery or location instructions.
The study-space page identifies bookable and first-come spaces at Oshawa and spaces in the Whitby library, cafeteria and Student Association lounge. Parking exists at both campuses and is operated through Ontario Tech. Eligible full-time students use the DRT U-PASS route; check current eligibility and activation instructions before relying on it.
Choose recreation, participation and work routes
Recreation is available at both locations through different facilities. Durham directs Oshawa students to the Campus Recreation and Wellness Centre and its FLEX Fitness Centre, while Whitby has its own Fitness Centre. The sport-and-recreation page publishes separate hours for each campus, so check it before travelling or planning a routine.
Durham describes the Durham College Student Association as serving full-time students through campus engagement. Its orientation FAQ directs students to clubs and events and says events take place at Oshawa and Whitby; check the current event or club listing for its actual location. The same FAQ directs students to the Hired Portal for part-time, full-time, co-op, contract and on-campus job searches.
Health, accessibility and wellness
The Campus Health and Wellness Centre gives you confidential access to physicians, nurses and mental health professionals. The Access and Support Centre arranges confidential support for students with a disability or who are temporarily at risk, and Peer Wellness Coaching helps with organization and time management.
Indigenous students, sport and safety
The First Peoples Indigenous Centre supports Indigenous students' physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well-being. Athletics and Recreation offers a gym membership, fitness programs, recreational leagues and an Esports Gaming Arena. CERT, a student volunteer team trained in first aid and emergency medical response, answers medical emergencies on campus. The Oshawa library has about 600 study spaces.
Decision checklist
- Start in MyDC for student-account tasks.
- Check whether support is booked, drop-in, online or campus-specific.
- Confirm recreation hours and the event or club location.
- Use Hired for job searches and confirm current transit or parking eligibility before commuting.
Separate program work experience from transfer agreements
Co-op participation and transfer credit each depend on the named program and current conditions.
Durham says co-op students apply to positions, interview and accept offers; the Co-op office does not match each student to an employer. The published $475 administrative fee applies per work term and is not a placement guarantee. Confirm that the exact program offers co-op and that you meet its progression requirements.
More about careers and work experience
Ontario Tech lists Durham's Computer Programming and Analysis advanced diploma for Computer Science Advanced Entry, with a minimum mid-70s average and 60 credit hours toward a 120-credit-hour BSc. This does not apply automatically to Durham's two-year Computer Programming diploma. The receiving institution controls admission and the final credit assessment.
