Plan housing without a College residence

Recognize the no-residence condition
Bow Valley College states plainly that it does not offer on-campus or off-campus housing. There is therefore no College residence application, room type, meal plan, residence rate or placement guarantee to compare. The housing links on the Living in Calgary page are a discovery list for homestays, student-oriented listings, shared accommodation and private rentals. The page also states that the College is not affiliated with the listed organizations, so inclusion must not be presented as College approval or a guarantee of service or accommodation.
Assess third-party options
The list includes Canada Homestay International, Places4Students, SpacesShared, Students' Association listings and several apartment-search services. Their arrangements differ: a homestay, roommate listing and private apartment do not have the same meals, furnishings, deposits, cancellation terms, guest rules or commute. Contact the provider directly, verify who operates the service, inspect the unit where possible, read the full agreement and confirm all one-time and recurring charges before transferring funds or signing.
Build a complete independent budget
Build a housing budget from the actual listing rather than a College residence estimate. Include monthly rent, security deposit, utilities, internet, tenant insurance, furnishings, food, laundry and transportation. Confirm the lease period against the academic schedule, including arrival before orientation and any gap between terms. International students should avoid committing on the assumption that admission, a study permit or travel will follow a particular schedule; use cancellation and refund language in the housing contract to judge that risk.
Test the commute
Commute planning starts with the selected program. The downtown campus is at 345–6 Avenue SE and is served by bus, CTrain, walking and cycling routes; the College notes the downtown CTrain free-fare zone and secure bicycle storage. Those features do not make every Calgary rental convenient or confirm that all classes are downtown. Check the program's delivery and location, test the route at class times, and keep independent housing evidence because the College is not the landlord or accommodation guarantor.
