The international route has its own steps. Applicants check program and English-language requirements. They check deadlines and international availability. Then they apply and send transcripts through the stated channels. The page lists a non-refundable $150 CAD application fee. It says processing does not begin until payment. Applicants using an authorized representative must complete the College consent form. Document delivery rules differ for official Canadian and pathway transcripts. So follow the upload and direct-send instructions in the current application checklist. Do not email every document by assumption.

An international offer is time-sensitive. The College states that the applicant confirms a place by paying a non-refundable, non-transferable $1,500 CAD confirmation fee. The offer is generally valid for about three weeks. Its exact deadline appears in the offer. That payment is distinct from tuition and from the application fee. A prospective student should keep the offer, payment receipt and every condition. Then use the College's international instructions for later immigration documentation. Do not treat admission as a study-permit decision.

Requirements stay program-specific. Open Studies, for example, states no formal admission requirements and no application fee. But it warns that English proficiency appropriate to the intended subject supports success. Career programs use their own academic, English and sometimes non-academic requirements. Alternative-entry routes also leave out some program groups. The safe workflow is to save the exact program and intake page used. Submit the matching applicant route. Watch the application account for requests or status updates.

Software Development is a useful scoped example. Bow Valley College describes a four-term diploma. It covers planning, programming and quality-assurance testing. It includes practical projects and a required Windows-based laptop. It is marked open to international students. It shows January 2027 in the intake area reviewed on September 13, 2026. Availability, course delivery and the PGWP-related information shown on a program record can change. International applicants should use the current program page and government rules when making a decision.

Transfer into Bow Valley College is assessed, not automatic. The College says students may earn up to 75% of a program through transfer. But eligibility includes acceptance, recognized prior post-secondary study, currency and standing conditions. Course-to-course assessment expects at least 80% alignment with the requested course's learning outcomes. The general minimum is C, 64% or 2.0 on the College scale. Higher requirements are possible. The confirmation fee must be paid before transfer-credit and PLAR grades can be awarded.

Transfer out is controlled by the receiving institution. Bow Valley College publishes pathways and directs students to Transfer Alberta. But it expressly says a pathway does not guarantee that another institution will admit the student or award credit. Open Studies can help a learner explore or complete selected courses that appear in career programs. Yet successful course completion still does not promise admission to the target credential. Ask both institutions for current written advice before relying on a course as a prerequisite, block transfer or degree pathway.

The list includes Canada Homestay International, Places4Students, SpacesShared, Students' Association listings and several apartment-search services. Their arrangements differ. A homestay, roommate listing and private apartment do not have the same meals, furnishings, deposits, cancellation terms, guest rules or commute. Contact the provider directly. Verify who operates the service. Inspect the unit where possible. Read the full agreement. Confirm all one-time and recurring charges before transferring funds or signing.

Build your housing budget from the real listing, not from a College residence estimate. Include monthly rent, security deposit, utilities, internet, tenant insurance, furnishings, food, laundry and transportation. Check that the lease dates fit the school schedule. Plan to arrive before orientation, and plan for any gap between terms. International students should not sign a lease on the hope that admission, a study permit or travel will follow a set schedule. Use the cancellation and refund terms in the housing contract to judge that risk.

Commute planning starts with the selected program. The downtown campus is at 345–6 Avenue SE. It is served by bus, CTrain, walking and cycling routes. The College notes the downtown CTrain free-fare zone and secure bicycle storage. Those features do not make every Calgary rental convenient. They do not confirm that all classes are downtown. Check the program's delivery and location. Test the route at class times. Keep independent housing evidence because the College is not the landlord or accommodation guarantor.

Published Software Development diploma examples show why one college-wide number would mislead. The domestic table lists four term amounts of $4,496, $4,607, $4,329 and $4,269, totalling the displayed $17,701 estimate. The international table lists $9,849, $10,076, $9,849 and $10,082, totalling $39,856. Other fees may apply. These 2026–27 estimates do not establish the amount due for a different program or registration.

Payment timing matters even when funding is expected. The College says payments can take up to four days to arrive and must be received in time to hold the class schedule. A student who has applied for a government loan should notify Financial Aid, but approved funding is sent to the student and the student remains responsible for paying the College. Tuition and fees are still due if a loan application is rejected. Bow Valley College scholarships, by contrast, are paid directly to the student account.

Government loans and grants are described for domestic students in eligible post-secondary certificate, diploma, post-diploma or Open Studies study; Alberta residents use Student Aid Alberta and residents of other provinces apply through their province. Entrance awards have term-specific windows: January 1 to April 1 for Spring/Summer starts, May 1 to August 1 for Fall, and September 1 to December 1 for Winter. Award criteria vary and the College warns that an award should not be the sole funding plan because total education costs will likely exceed it.

Student Health and Wellness gives current students free, confidential individual counselling. You can meet in person or by video. It also gives group counselling on listed topics. It gives culturally grounded care that includes an Indigenous counsellor. The page defines access around current-student status. So prospective applicants should not describe it as an unconditional public service. Use the current booking route for availability and urgent-help directions. A college counselling appointment is not a substitute for emergency care.

Financial planning support goes beyond loans. The Budgeting for School page tells students to include tuition, books and supplies, rent, food, monthly bills, transportation and childcare. It lists free financial coaching, workshops, tax clinics and help with budgeting, credit and debt. These services can improve a plan. But they do not make a student eligible for aid or erase a payment deadline. Bring the actual program estimate, housing quote and personal obligations to the conversation.

Daily campus access also depends on location and schedule. The downtown page describes walking, transit and cycling access. It describes the CTrain free-fare zone along 7th Avenue and two secure bicycle lockups accessed through the stated channels. The Welcome Centre can arrange a guided downtown tour or provide a virtual tour. Verify building, room, delivery and hours in the current schedule. A campus amenity is useful only when it aligns with where and when the learner attends.
