Sault College Student Life
Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario
The Student Support Centre (E1101) houses accessibility services and counselling.
Student Accessibility Services
Student Accessibility Services in the Student Support Centre (E1101) supports students with visual and hearing impairments, physical and mobility limits, medical and mental health conditions, and learning disabilities. It guides you through self-identification and accommodations, offers learning strategists and assistive technology, and runs a free transition program before classes for students with learning disabilities.
Counselling
Counsellors offer short-term personal and mental health counselling by appointment, plus academic counselling and study skills sessions. The centre isn't a crisis setting, so it lists local crisis lines and Good2Talk at 1-866-925-5454. For long-term needs, counsellors help you find a community provider.
Health Centre and peer tutoring
The Student Health Centre (A0174) treats minor illness and injury, monitors chronic conditions, renews prescriptions and reviews immunization forms for placements, with walk-ins during clinic hours. Peer tutors lead weekly drop-in sessions for many programs and core subjects like English and math.
Cougars athletics and fitness
The Sault Cougars compete in men's baseball, curling, football and hockey, and women's curling, hockey and volleyball. Students get a membership to the Fitness Centre, with a 114-metre indoor track and full gym, and to the Waterfront Adventure Centre on the St. Mary's River.
Indigenous supports
Enji Maawnjiding, the "Where We Gather" Indigenous Centre, offers counselling, tutoring and application help, with Elders and an Indigenous Students' Union. The Wiigwaasgamig Sacred Fire Arbour hosts ceremonies and teachings.
