Credentials and preparatory routes
Sault offers certificates, diplomas, advanced diplomas, degrees and postgraduate certificates. If you need to build your background first, Sault gives weight to preparatory programs such as Pre-Health, Pre-Trades, General Arts and Science and Academic and Career Entrance (ACE). International applicants can filter for programs that may lead to a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP).
Example: Computer Programming
Computer Programming is a two-year Ontario College Diploma at the Sault Ste. Marie campus, starting September 2027. It needs an OSSD with Grade 12 English (ENG4C) and Grade 12 Foundations for College Math (MAP4C), or mature student status. You build skills in Python, Java and JavaScript, and finish with a capstone project for a real business or community partner.
Pathways to a degree
Many diplomas and certificates have pathways to a degree, including 2+2 routes that can finish a diploma and degree in as little as four years. Computer Programming graduates, for example, can transfer to Algoma University's Bachelor of Computer Science in as little as one more year. You can also bring in credits through credit transfer, advanced standing or PLAR. Talk to the Pathways Coordinator first.
