NAIT says fall applications open October 1. This is for the following September. It applies to domestic degree, diploma and certificate applications. Winter applications open March 1 for the following January. Spring/summer applications open June 1 for the following May or July. Not every program has every intake. The same guide says a first-choice program gets priority. It gets priority over an optional second choice. Treat that order as a seat-allocation decision.

Send official transcripts and documents within 60 days of applying. Or send them by your program's start date. Do whichever comes first. While the originals arrive, you can upload copies in MyNAIT. This may get you a conditional offer. If your program fills before NAIT evaluates your application, you go on a waitlist. Seats can open up any time before the term starts.

Offers arrive as e-letters in MyNAIT. You accept by paying the non-refundable tuition deposit, $500 for domestic students, by the deadline in your offer letter, and it counts toward your first-term tuition. If you miss the deadline, your seat can go to another applicant. Some programs make offers into the first week of classes, and if you accept after the tuition deadline you must pay tuition and fees within 24 hours.

NAIT’s page broadly describes U-Pass access, while NAITSA publishes the current eligibility boundary. The fee applies in fall, winter or spring to students with at least one on-campus credit course or a credit course with an on-campus component. Apprentices, fully online students, non-credit students and students whose courses start after the exemption deadline are excluded. Confirm eligibility before using transit access as a housing assumption.

NAIT doesn't run its own residence. Its housing page lists six private student-housing providers in Edmonton: Horizon Residence, Live Laurent, Mainstreet, Pilot Blatchford, The Sunrise and The Switch. It notes that space is limited and fills quickly, and that NAIT hasn't reviewed or endorsed them, so prices, deposits and leases come from each provider.

Budget for transit and heat. NAITSA's U-Pass fee is $182.50 a term for fall 2026 and winter 2027, rising to $185 for 2027–28, and it covers buses and LRT across Edmonton. Exemptions don't carry over, so you reapply each term; the winter 2027 form opens in November. NAIT warns that heating costs in Alberta are high, especially in older houses in winter, so ask whether utilities are included.

For participation, NAITSA’s current clubs page says clubs are open to all NAIT students. Student councils can restrict membership by academic program or year. Students browse active groups through Ooks Life; starting a club requires at least three current students in the named executive roles. This is a practical distinction between joining an open-interest group and a program council.

NAIT’s recreation facilities page lists a Fitness Weight Centre with strength and cardio equipment, squash and racquetball courts, functional-training and power-lifting areas, a climbing wall, saunas and showers. It also identifies an arena with a walking/running track, student drop-in sports in the gymnasium and pool access at MacEwan for students with valid NAIT ID. Students pay a mandatory non-instructional recreation and athletics fee for access to NAIT facilities, classes and activities; current students use MyNAIT for current details.

NAIT's registered counsellors offer free, confidential help with personal and mental health concerns, and current students book through MyNAIT. NAITSA Peer Support is an anonymous listening service run by students. Mentorship programs pair experienced students with first-year students by shared goals, interests or program, and spiritual care providers from several faiths are open to everyone. Your student health benefits cover prescription drugs, travel insurance, supplemental health, dental and vision.

For Civil Engineering Technology, the page lists an optional 30-week co-op. Students are responsible for securing a placement, and employers use Career Connect and their normal recruitment process. NAIT describes work-integrated learning more broadly as including co-op, field or clinical placements, internships and industry projects. Career Coaching supports career planning, resumes, cover letters, interviews, LinkedIn profiles and job-search strategy. Career Connect carries employer postings; neither the service nor co-op label guarantees a placement or job.
