Plan work experience and transfer carefully

Ottawa, Ontario

La Cité’s transfer and employment resources are starting points; conditions belong to the named program and destination.

Check whether COOP is available

La Cité’s COOP mode provides paid placements related to a student’s field, but they are not required for the regular diploma. The college says most COOP placements last 14 weeks between study terms; sequence and number depend on the program. Eligibility requires completing preceding courses, paying program fees and successfully completing the placement-preparation workshop. The official page lists a $350 preparation-term fee and $150 for each found-and-confirmed placement, with limited refund conditions.

Use employment services without assuming an outcome

Students search through La Cité Emplois from the portal. Students remain responsible for finding a placement, and La Cité does not assure one. Employment and COOP services provide job postings, workshops, CV clinics, a toolkit and a job fair, but do not guarantee a placement or job. Graduates who completed their credential less than five years ago can use the graduate employment route and must reset their password on first use.

Confirm the named transfer pathway

Transfer planning remains program-specific. Record the La Cité credential, courses and grades plus the destination program, intake and admission conditions. A published pathway can include advanced entry or bridge courses; confirm the current written credit assessment with the receiving institution.

Decision checklist

  • Name the destination program rather than relying on an institution-wide relationship.
  • Ask for written credit and admission conditions.
  • Confirm any placement or work-term responsibility before enrolling.

Plan your next step

Reopen the exact official program page for your intake and applicant category. Save the requirement, cost, campus, and deadline evidence you used, then confirm any uncertainty with the institution.
