Fort McMurray study planning
Keyano College Guide
Program delivery controls which Keyano campus and facilities belong in the plan.
Choose the campus after the program
Keyano College’s main campus is at 8115 Franklin Avenue in Fort McMurray. The Suncor Energy Industrial Campus is on MacKenzie Boulevard. Choose a program first, then confirm its delivery and campus before arranging transport or housing. A general campus list does not establish where every class or lab meets.
Compare current credential types
The current program directory covers several areas. These are business and computing, health and human services, education, and university studies. It also covers arts, trades and heavy industrial study. Credentials and delivery vary. Open the program record to confirm its length. Also check the intake status. Check the admission requirements too.
Review the Business Management example
Business Administration Management Diploma is a scoped example. Its official table showed Fall 2026 closed for domestic and international students when reviewed. It lists in-person delivery, a two-year diploma, business career fields and a co-op credit option. Check the live intake again before applying because availability can change.
Record the details for your choice
Record the exact credential and intake. Record the campus and applicant category. Also record the admission conditions and annual cost components. Add housing only after confirming delivery. Check the live intake before paying. Availability can change. Use current program and account records for decisions. Do not use older viewbooks or search summaries.
Decision checklist
- Confirm program delivery and campus.
- Open the current intake record.
- Save applicant and cost details together.
Keyano College Admissions
Domestic and international applicants use different fees, documents and deposits.
Before you apply
Applicants choose a program, review its requirements and apply through ApplyAlberta. Prepare an Alberta Student Number, education history, course grades, a personal email and a credit card. Keyano requires a separate application and fee for each program, so a second choice creates another application record and charge.
Application fees and seat deposits
The current application page lists a non-refundable $54 fee per domestic program application and $107 per international program application. An offer requires a separate deposit to hold the place. The page lists $250 for domestic applicants and $5,000 for international applicants, with the international deposit due within 10 business days.
Transcripts by province
Keyano automatically requests transcripts from Alberta, Saskatchewan and British Columbia. Applicants educated elsewhere must ask the previous institution to send an official transcript. They can upload an unofficial copy through MyKeys or email it to Admissions while the official record is arranged. International applicants may also need English proof or an IQAS assessment.
Track your application in MyKeys
MyKeys credentials arrive by email within one to three business days. Use the portal to check status, upload requested documents and read Admissions updates. After all required documents arrive, Keyano states an update is expected within five to ten business days. That processing estimate is not an admission guarantee.
Decision checklist
- Pay the fee for the correct applicant route.
- Send transcripts through the stated route.
- Track documents and status in MyKeys.
Keyano College Programs
Compare requirements and experiential rules on each current program page.
Check the Business diploma prerequisites
The Business Administration Management Diploma requires a high-school diploma or equivalent. It lists at least 55% in Math 30-1 or Math 30-2. English 30-1 is listed at 60%, while English 33 and English 30-2 appear under the 65% alternative. The official page displays English 30 in both its 60% and 65% alternatives. Confirm the applicable English 30 threshold and course equivalents with Admissions.
Use the mature-admission route correctly
Applicants aged 21 or older may use the published mature route. They need the specified English and mathematics courses or a pass on the College Entrance Assessment. English-language proficiency has its own accepted tests and minima. Meeting these published thresholds does not reserve a seat in an intake.
Confirm the Business co-op conditions
The business diploma’s co-op credit course sits between Year 1 and Year 2 and requires at least 420 hours. The page describes related full-time employment experience. Treat the option as program-specific and confirm selection, course registration and employer conditions before making a work plan.
Check Power Engineering prerequisites and co-op
Third Class Power Engineering Co-op is different. Applicants need an ABSA Fourth Class certificate, recognized Parts A and B, and a recognized 200-hour Power Lab. They must complete the four-month first term before co-op eligibility. The six-month paid placement is competitive, may require an interview and must be secured.
Decision checklist
- Match every prerequisite to one program.
- Keep business and power co-op rules separate.
- Check intake and international availability.
Keyano College Housing
Current residence terms distinguish single and family housing at Clearwater and Penhorwood.
Choose the housing type
Clearwater Hall is an on-campus six-storey building with furnished suites containing six single bedrooms and shared kitchens, living rooms, bathrooms and storage. Penhorwood Place is behind the college near the wellness centre. It has furnished single-student units and unfurnished two- or three-bedroom family townhouses. Housing is pet-free and smoke-free.
Use the current contract period
The 2026–27 academic-year term runs from August 23, 2026 to April 23, 2027. The table keeps each room component separate. Full-year single housing is due June 15. Family amounts vary by bedroom count and garage. Applicants should use the housing account for the assigned unit and its payment instructions.
Fees and payment options
A $50 non-refundable application fee and $300 security deposit are required before residence acceptance. Academic-year residents also pay a $60 non-refundable Housing Life Activity Fee. Payment option 2 adds a $100 non-refundable administration fee. Students receiving monthly funding or sponsorship may request a payment plan by email.
Housing eligibility and availability
Housing is reserved for full-time Keyano students, subject to availability, and the requested housing type is not guaranteed. Clearwater and Penhorwood include Wi-Fi, but furnishings and layouts differ. Confirm the offer, move-in obligations, payment option and unit inventory before relying on residence.
Checked
Term: August 23, 2026 to April 23, 2027. Single-housing full payment is due June 15; the family-rate table does not state payment dates. Application, activity, security and optional instalment administration fees are separate.

Keyano College Tuition & Aid
Use exact program components, payment timing and current award eligibility.
Check your account and payment deadline
Keyano says tuition and fees are due at least 10 business days before classes begin. Student accounts may include tuition, technology, recreation and Students’ Association fees, health and dental coverage, and residence rent. Review Self-Service because the amount and due date attach to the student’s actual registration.
Compare 2026–27 program estimates
The 2026–27 table compares Business Administration Management with Third Class Power Engineering Co-op. Business estimates differ by domestic and international status. Power Engineering is listed only for domestic applicants. Both program pages exclude mandatory laboratory fees ranging from $35 to $135 and assume full enrolment.
Scholarship and bursary applications
The Keyano Awards Program lists financial-need applications from May 1 to July 31 and winter student-award applications from September 15 to December 18. Supporting documents can include Indigenous ancestry, disability, volunteer references, income and expenses. Eligibility and value vary by award, so one application does not establish funding.
Excellence Tuition Waiver eligibility
The 2026–27 Excellence Tuition Waiver is for 2026 graduates of Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo high schools. It requires an overall average of at least 80% across five named 30-level courses, with no mark below 70%. The maximum is one year of domestic university-studies tuition; associated fees remain the student’s responsibility.

Keyano College Student Life
Use the eligibility and booking route attached to each Keyano support service.
Book academic help
The Academic Success Centre provides free personalized help to currently enrolled Keyano students. Support covers mathematics, science, writing, language, digital design and study strategies. Students can book a 30-minute appointment, attend a drop-in, or use email, phone, Teams, Zoom and workshops. In-person appointments take place in CC119.
Use peer tutoring correctly
Peer tutoring covers course content outside the specialists’ scope and depends on tutor availability. It supports classroom instruction rather than replacing it. Students should bring the assignment instructions and attempted work. Two missed appointments without notice can affect access to later specialist bookings during the semester.
Arrange accessibility support
Accessibility Services offers confidential, no-cost support to current and prospective students with disabilities. It lists accommodations, adaptive technology and personalized support. Students should monitor their Keyano email for appointment requests and state their preferred in-person, online or phone format when booking.
Choose the right wellness route
Wellness Services provides free confidential counselling for Keyano students, including support for stress, anxiety, depression, substance use, relationships and grief. A Wellness Navigator can connect students with financial, housing, food and health resources. Choose emergency or crisis resources when immediate help is required rather than waiting for a routine appointment.
Decision checklist
- Book academic support for the subject.
- Start accessibility arrangements early.
- Use the suitable wellness route.
Keyano College Careers & WIL
Career tools support defined tasks while each program controls placement eligibility.
Get help with applications and interviews
Work Integrated Learning supports current students and alumni with employer connections, career resources, resumes, cover letters and interviews. Students can request a resume critique by email or attend an Employment Skills workshop. For interview practice, book Career Guidance and then schedule a mock interview for feedback.
Find jobs and book appointments
GradLeaders provides the online job board and appointment route. Students can filter openings by industry, location or job type, save postings, track applications and receive notifications. A posting is an opportunity to apply. Verify the employer’s eligibility, deadline, location and application instructions before submitting materials.
Explore your interests with an assessment
The Strong Interest Inventory can help identify skills, values and career interests. Students can request the assessment from WIL. Use its results to develop questions and research options rather than treating them as a job outcome. Faculty can also request workshops for career exploration and workplace preparation.
Compare Business and Power Engineering co-op
Program co-op rules remain separate from general career support. Business Management describes a minimum 420-hour co-op credit between Years 1 and 2. Third Class Power Engineering requires successful completion of Term 1 before a competitive six-month paid work term. Employer compensation and placement remain conditional.
Decision checklist
- Request help for a specific application task.
- Track jobs through GradLeaders.
- Verify the selected program's co-op conditions.
