Compare credentials and intakes
Computer Programming is a two-year Ontario College Diploma with co-op, hybrid delivery and Barrie intakes. Automotive Business is also a two-year co-op diploma with hybrid delivery at Barrie and describes eight months of co-op experience. Practical Nursing is a 2.5-year in-person diploma with multiple campus intakes and clinical placement. These are examples, not an inventory of every program.
Check subjects and equipment
Computer Programming requires Grade 12 English and any Grade 12 Mathematics at the C or U level. Automotive Business requires Grade 12 English plus Grade 11 or 12 Mathematics, with at least 60% in the specified Grade 11 college or university mathematics courses. Both also publish program-specific laptop requirements, which students must budget separately.
Prepare for placement conditions
Practical Nursing requires English, Mathematics, Biology and Chemistry or Physics at its listed grade levels. The program is highly competitive and recommends at least 75% in each prerequisite. Clinical participation also requires a verified Clinical Preparedness Permit and other non-academic conditions. Students provide their own placement transportation, and schedules can include evenings, weekends or shifts of varying length.
