Understand the competitive co-op process
Georgian says co-op work terms are secured through a traditional job search, interview and selection process. Students are not placed or matched with a company, and no co-op job is guaranteed. A co-op program makes the work term a graduation requirement, so students should understand eligibility and begin the search before the scheduled term.
Prepare through the required course
Students take a Co-op and Career Preparation course in first year and can use one-to-one help with employer expectations, resumés, cover letters, interviews and program-related career planning. International students need the study-permit documentation required for mandatory co-op and a Social Insurance Number to work. Program rules still control the number, timing and assessment of terms.
Use career support beyond co-op
Career Success supports prospective students, current students and graduates up to two years after graduation. Career consultants offer planning, assessments and job-search preparation across programs and campuses, with remote and in-person service. Students and recent graduates can use the Career Hub and GeorgianConnects, but a posting or advising appointment is not an employer offer.
