Collège Boréal Tuition and Financial Aid

Sudbury, Ontario

Boréal sets fees each year and publishes them by May 1. OSAP course-load rules matter if you drop a course.

How fees are set

Tuition and ancillary fees depend on full- or part-time status, credential, program and legal status in Canada. Boréal publishes the next year's fees by May 1. Ancillary fees fund services such as sports, career counselling, health and student association activities, and Canadian students can opt out of the health plan with proof of other coverage.

Deposits and international costs

The tuition deposit for Canadian students is due June 15. International students pay a $2,500 deposit that's generally non-refundable, though Boréal may refund it in exceptional cases such as a study permit refusal with an official letter. Boréal estimates international tuition at about $15,000 a year including health insurance.

OSAP

OSAP (RAFEO in French) counts you as full-time at 60% of a full course load, or 40% with a permanent disability. For most online programs, Boréal and OSAP calculate course load differently, so you could be full-time at Boréal but part-time for OSAP. Dropping even one course can change your status and affect your funding.

Bursaries and Travail-Boréal

With help from the Fondation Boréal, about 3,000 bursaries are offered each year across all sites, and you can apply at different points in your program. Travail-Boréal hires full-time students in financial need to work on campus for up to 15 hours a week.
