Credentials and degrees
Cambrian offers certificates, diplomas, advanced diplomas, graduate certificates and degrees. Its degrees include the Bachelor of Applied Computing, the Bachelor of Business Administration, the Honours Bachelor of Applied Psychology and the Honours Bachelor of Business Administration.
Co-op and apprenticeship options
Five programs include mandatory paid co-op terms, usually four months long: the Bachelor of Business Administration, the Honours BBA, Global Business Management, Chemical Engineering Technology (Lab and Process Control), and Mining Engineering Technology. Co-op Diploma Apprenticeship programs, such as Powerline Technician and Heavy Equipment Technician, add apprenticeship training toward a Certificate of Qualification and an optional co-op. Fieldwork and placements in other programs are unpaid and vary in length.
Example: Computer Systems Technology
Computer Systems Technology (Security) is a three-year Ontario College Advanced Diploma at the Barry Downe campus, with a seven-week placement in semester six. It needs an OSSD or mature student status with any Grade 12 English (C or U) and any Grade 12 math (C or U). Cambrian lists it as eligible for the Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP), and it starts in January 2027, September 2027 and January 2028.
Credit for prior learning
Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR) turns work, volunteer, military or self-taught learning into credit through challenge exams or a portfolio. Register and pay by day 10 of the semester. If you try PLAR for a course you're in, you're withdrawn from it, and earning PLAR credit can lower your course load and affect OSAP.
Decision checklist
- Check whether co-op is mandatory or optional.
- Read the program's admission subjects.
- Ask about PLAR before day 10 of the semester.
