Use the program finder and admissions guide

The St. Lawrence program finder filters by area of study, campus, credential, delivery mode, duration and start date. The 2027–28 Programs and Admissions Guide holds program-specific admission requirements. Graduate certificate requirements are on each program page.

Workplace credits and part-time study

Five one-year certificates accept an OSSD earned with workplace preparation credits: Carpentry Techniques, Computer Programming (Kingston and Cornwall), General Construction Carpentry Techniques, Hairstyling and Hairstyling (Accelerated). Every program can be completed part-time, but not every program runs part-time each term. Domestic applicants who fall short of a graduate certificate's academic requirement can ask for an alternate admission assessment, except for Communicative Disorders Assistant.

Apprenticeships

St. Lawrence trains apprentices in 14 trades in block or day-release formats. Every Ontario apprenticeship starts with a job and a registered training agreement between you, your employer and the province. If you can't find an employer, St. Lawrence's matching post-secondary programs deliver equivalent classroom training. Eligible apprentices may get apprenticeship grants of up to $4,000 for tuition, travel or tools.

Credit transfer and PLAR

St. Lawrence works with hundreds of institutions on pathways, and ONTransfer lists Ontario transfer agreements. Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR) gives credit for learning from work or life, one course at a time, through a portfolio, challenge test, skills demonstration or interview. The PLAR grade goes on your transcript and counts toward your GPA. Email the Pathways Coordinator before applying.

Decision checklist

  • Read the 2027–28 admissions guide for your program.
  • Line up an employer before an apprenticeship.
  • Ask about PLAR and transfer credit early.
