Apply through ontariocolleges.ca

You apply and confirm your offer through ontariocolleges.ca. Ontario Colleges charges a non-refundable $150 fee for up to five choices, no more than three at one college. St. Clair's equal-consideration dates are February 1 for fall and September 15 for winter. After that, it takes applications first come, first served. Most programs need an OSSD with a majority of credits at C, U, M or O level, plus the program's required subjects.

Oversubscribed and high-interest programs

The oversubscribed programs are Dental Hygiene, Diagnostic Cardiac Sonography, Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Medical Laboratory Science, Nursing BScN, Paramedic, Practical Nursing and the Registered Practical Nurse Pathway to BScN. If you're in high school, St. Clair averages all your Grade 11 courses and first-semester Grade 12 courses to rank you. For the BScN, it uses your first-semester Grade 12 U or M required courses. You still need the minimum in mandatory courses when final grades come out. Waitlists don't carry over to another term or year.

Mature students and equivalencies

If you're 19 or older on the first day of classes without an OSSD, you apply as a mature student and usually write a math or English admission test, except for oversubscribed programs. A GED counts as an OSSD with Grade 12 English and Grade 11 math at the general level, and a CAEC counts at the college level. Every program also lists physical demands you need to meet to work in that field.

International applicants

International students apply through the Ontario Colleges international portal, and seats go first come, first served. After your Letter of Acceptance, pay the full Confirmation Fee, then you'll get a receipt and a Provincial Attestation Letter. Your seat is secured only when you upload a valid study visa. If the program fills before you do, your acceptance is revoked and the fee returned. Most diplomas need IELTS Academic 6.0 or TOEFL iBT 60, and degrees and Practical Nursing need IELTS 6.5 with no band below 6.0.

Decision checklist

  • Apply by February 1 for oversubscribed programs.
  • Keep Grade 11 and early Grade 12 marks strong.
  • International: upload your study visa quickly.
