College planning

Red Deer Polytechnic Guide

Choose the program first, then match its delivery to RDP's documented Red Deer locations, costs, housing and support routes.

Choose the correct Red Deer location

RDP's main campus at 100 Donald Boulevard contains the four academic schools, research facilities, residences, the Arts Centre and Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre. The downtown campus at Millennium Centre houses Continuing Education and Corporate Training.

Start with the live program record

The program directory spans business, computing, creative arts, education, engineering technologies, health, humanities, sciences and trades. Open the exact program page because credential, delivery, start date, admission requirements and work-integrated learning are program-specific.

Compare two transfer-oriented diplomas

The University Sciences and University Arts diplomas are two-year, on-campus programs. They show full-time and part-time study. Their pages publish different course structures, tuition estimates and transfer possibilities. So neither is a general cost proxy.

Connect delivery to daily costs

Build one record with the credential, intake, campus, applicant category, tuition estimate, additional fees and housing period. Keep the review date. Availability, deadlines and prices can change on their own.

Decision checklist

  • Record the program's stated campus and delivery.
  • Check the live start date and applicant eligibility.
  • Separate program, fee, housing and transport decisions.

Red Deer Polytechnic Admissions

Follow the exact program and applicant route, then use MyRDP to track decisions, missing documents and payment requirements.

Check program admission details

Admission requirements and application deadlines appear on each program page. Confirm the intended term and whether the program accepts your applicant category before paying, because general institution pages do not establish current availability.

Use the correct applicant route

International applicants upload unofficial transcripts for an initial decision and pay a $150 non-refundable international application fee. That amount is specific to the international route and is not presented here as a domestic or apprenticeship fee.

Complete official-document steps

International official transcripts and English-proficiency documents must reach the Registrar by July 15 for Fall, December 1 for Winter, March 31 for Spring or May 1 for Summer. The issuing institution or approved access route controls official status.

Track MyRDP and deposit deadlines

International applicants monitor MyRDP's My Admissions card and pay the required deposit within one month of admission before downloading the letter of acceptance. Domestic new and returning-after-a-break credit students have a separate $425 deposit rule.

Apply, accept and register

Domestic and transfer applicants apply through ApplyAlberta, and your application isn't complete until every document listed on the program's Admission tab arrives. Once you're admitted to a credit program, you have 30 days from the admission date to pay the non-refundable tuition deposit and secure your seat. Unless your program pre-sets your timetable, you register for classes from May each year. Transfer students have their transcripts assessed for transfer credit after applying, and anyone who finished a credential can then apply for Block Transfer. Watch MyRDP and the email address you applied with so you don't miss an update.

Decision checklist

  • Confirm the exact program deadline and applicant category.
  • Upload initial documents through the stated route.
  • Track MyRDP tasks, official-document deadlines and deposits.

Red Deer Polytechnic Programs

Compare program pages by credential, delivery, course structure, cost scope and transfer evidence. Do not rely on broad category claims.

Compare credential and delivery

RDP lists credentials across four schools. It also lists them across multiple subject areas. The directory is the starting point. The current program record controls duration. It also controls attendance mode. It controls international availability. It controls program-level requirements.

Review the University Sciences example

University Sciences is a two-year diploma. It has biology, chemistry, supporting sciences, biochemistry and electives. Its page describes transfer pathways and entry to RDP's Bachelor of Science. But students should verify course selection with an adviser.

Review the University Arts example

University Arts is a two-year diploma. It covers humanities and social sciences. The study is flexible and transfer-oriented. Its page publishes separate domestic and international estimates. Transfer or later program admission still depends on receiving-program requirements.

Distinguish each work-integrated learning format

Work-integrated learning can include mandatory professional practice. It can include community learning, applied research, entrepreneurship, internships or co-op. The specific program decides if WIL exists. It also decides if WIL is required. It decides if WIL is paid.

Degrees and designated seats

RDP's degrees include the Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Bachelor of Education and Bachelor of Business Administration. It also offers psychology degrees, a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences and applied arts degrees in film production and in animation and visual effects. Designated seats reserve places for Indigenous applicants who meet a program's requirements. Examples include 13 seats in Education, 6 in Nursing and 8 in the Computer Programming Diploma.

Each amount is a tuition estimate based on the recommended course load for that program year. Additional fees and living costs apply.

Red Deer Polytechnic Housing

Choose individual, family or apprenticeship housing, then compare its exact rate period, fees, eligibility and current availability.

Choose the correct housing category

Individual housing includes shared Tower, Cluster and Blocks units, two-bedroom options, studios and barrier-free layouts. The published Fall, Winter and academic-year prices use different periods and should not be combined as equivalent rates.

Compare family housing monthly rates

Family housing is open year-round as availability changes. Two-bedroom family housing is $1,090 per month and four-bedroom family housing is $1,265 per month for 2026–27 pricing through June 30, 2027.

Check apprenticeship stays and taxes

Apprenticeship housing has distinct full, partial-week and daily arrangements. Partial weekly accommodation is $280 for four nights plus 11% tax, while the daily option is $80 plus 11% tax for one-to-three-night course attendance.

Apply with the current waitlist in view

The 2026–27 family and individual residence page currently says full and waitlisting. Applicants need not be admitted before applying, but must be enrolled full-time at nine credits when moving in; application fees are $60 domestic and $80 international.

  • Check the current waitlist before relying on residence.

Red Deer Polytechnic Tuition & Aid

Use program-specific tuition estimates, applicant deposit rules, term deadlines and award windows as separate parts of the budget.

Use program estimates within scope

Program cost cards are tuition estimates based on the recommended annual course load and say additional fees apply. The Sciences and Arts examples demonstrate why students should use their own program year rather than one institution-wide tuition figure.

Apply the correct domestic deposit rule

A $425 non-refundable domestic deposit applies to new credit students and students returning after at least one major term away, while continuing students do not pay it. The deadline is one month from admission, before course registration.

Meet the term payment deadlines

Domestic term balances are due by 4:30 p.m. on the published date: August 27, 2026 for Fall and January 6, 2027 for Winter. A sponsorship letter must reach the Cashiers Office before the applicable payment deadline.

Treat awards as conditional

The General Awards Application opens March 1 and closes May 31. New and current students become eligible to access it once RDP issues MyRDP credentials; apprentices have a separate current-academic-year attendance or registration condition.

Checked

Each amount is a tuition estimate based on the recommended course load for that program year. Additional fees and living costs apply.

Red Deer Polytechnic Student Life

Pick the service that fits your exact need. Check its eligibility, location and delivery first. Do this before you depend on it.

Start at Student Connect

Student Connect supports education planning. It routes academic advising, funding advising, scholarships and awards questions. It is a practical first stop. A student may need to connect a program decision with registration or funding steps.

Arrange learning and accessibility support

RDP students can get free tutoring from Academic Support. Accessibility Services advocates for students with documented disabilities. These disabilities affect mobility, learning, physical health or mental health. These descriptions do not guarantee a certain accommodation. They do not guarantee a tutor match.

Use counselling and safety routes

Counselling Services gives free, private counselling to current students. It covers mental health, addiction and trauma. Campus Security handles safety on its own. It also handles distress intervention, Safewalk and lost or stolen property. It has emergency and non-emergency routes.

Confirm service eligibility and delivery

The support directory was updated May 14, 2026. It separates on-campus RDP services from community resources. Use the current page to confirm contact information. Do not assume every listed service shares RDP eligibility or operating hours.

Indigenous student services

Indigenous Student Services runs the Pónokaisissáhta Indigenous Student Centre on the main campus. It is a place to find resources and celebrate Indigenous culture. It is open to students, staff and community members.

Start-of-term events and awards

Each semester, RDP and the Students' Association (SARDP) run a start-of-term week. It has activities and information fairs. RDP gives more than $1.1 million a year in awards and scholarships. Applications are open March 1 to May 31. For off-campus housing help, the Students' Association is the contact. Accessibility support covers disabilities, chronic health conditions and temporary illnesses that affect learning. Documentation of the impact can qualify you for accommodations.

Decision checklist

  • Start with Student Connect for planning and funding routing.
  • Contact accessibility or tutoring before support is needed.
  • Use the counselling, security or community route appropriate to the issue.

Red Deer Polytechnic Careers & WIL

Use current job-search and WIL resources. Keep in mind that program eligibility, pay, placement and employment outcomes are conditional.

Use the MyExperience job board

MyExperience lists full-time, part-time, seasonal and internship opportunities for students and alumni. Current RDP users and Continuing Education users have different login routes. A listing is an application lead. It is not confirmation of selection or employment.

Prepare application materials

Career Services links resources for resumes and cover letters. It links behavioural interview questions. It links job information and labour-market tools. Online career-development programs offer simulations and networking. So choose the resource that fits your next application task.

Identify the program's WIL category

RDP groups WIL as mandatory professional practice, community learning, applied research or entrepreneurial formats, internships and co-op. Some professional placements are generally unpaid. Co-op is described as paid. Co-op requires at least 420 hours.

Verify placement and pay conditions

WIL may be curricular or extracurricular. It may be paid or unpaid. It may be assigned through particular courses. Check the program's format and prerequisites first. Also check its assessment and employer process. Check its pay before you treat a work experience as available.

Decision checklist

  • Use the correct MyExperience login and job category.
  • Prepare the resume, cover letter and interview evidence.
  • Confirm program WIL eligibility, hours, pay and placement process.

Continue by decision
