Most program requirements name B.C. secondary courses, but NLC says it also recognizes courses from other jurisdictions. Applicants should submit the requested records and use their admissions officer for missing requirements; the exact program page controls prerequisites rather than the general application guide.

International applicants use the separate international route, check the chosen program’s entry and English requirements, and review current dates. NLC publishes a changing list of programs aligned with eligible PGWP fields, but completion only makes a graduate eligible to apply; immigration authorities decide the permit.

The Social Services Worker Diploma is a 60-credit, 1,055-hour minimum designed as two years over four semesters at 15 credits per semester. Part-time study takes longer, and its named core courses must be completed within six years of program admission.

That diploma lists Dawson Creek and Fort St. John for fall, winter and spring. Its January intake is domestic-only, while remote-campus access may use online and videoconference delivery with locally arranged practica. These conditions belong to this diploma and should not be generalized.

The page lists four-month semester rates for September–December or January–April: $2,240 per bedroom in a three- or four-bedroom suite, $3,500 in a two-bedroom suite and $4,760 for a one-bedroom suite. Eight-week trades rates are $1,120, $1,750 and $2,380 respectively. Housing payment is due five days before move-in, and a $50 laundry fee applies per semester or term from August 1, 2026.

The principal resident must be registered at NLC or another recognized institution, pay the application fee and complete the full application. Applicants under 19 need parent or guardian consent. Priority goes to first-year NLC students, self-identified Indigenous students, and current or former youth in care; priority is not a room guarantee.

Regular check-in is 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.; later arrivals wait until 9 a.m. the next day and may need local accommodation. Read the housing contract and handbook, confirm the assigned campus and suite, and ask the location’s housing manager about availability before travelling.

The schedule lists a $25.50 domestic application fee and $100 international application fee, plus student-service and association charges. Online-only courses are not assessed the facilities fee. Books, supplies and program-specific instruction charges can sit outside the headline tuition rate, so use an exact program estimate.

NLC routes scholarships, bursaries and awards through Astra and notes that some awards are program-specific with their own deadlines. Government loan programs normally require NLC to confirm enrolment. An award listing or loan application is not a funding decision; check the named program, deadline and assessment.

Access Services supports disability-related participation across Chetwynd, Dawson Creek, Fort Nelson, Fort St. John and Tumbler Ridge. The published schedule has named days in Dawson Creek and Fort St. John and service as necessary elsewhere; NLC tells students to call ahead because scheduled campus days can change.

Practical campus services also differ. The hub lists bookstores at four campuses and cafeterias at Dawson Creek and Fort St. John. Contact the service before travelling, and distinguish an available service from a guaranteed appointment or accommodation decision.

Transfer-credit review begins after applying to NLC. Applicants submit one request per previous institution and official transcripts directly from the source. NLC says evaluation can take four to six weeks after all documents arrive and possibly longer at busy times; an out-of-B.C. request also requires the listed fee.

Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition can assess formal or informal learning, including work, self-study and volunteering, where a program permits it. PLAR credit applies toward an NLC credential, but NLC does not guarantee transferability to another institution. Confirm the receiving institution separately.
