Northern Lakes College Student Life
Slave Lake, Alberta
Use distance-ready services while preserving documentation and current-student eligibility rules.
Arrange documented accommodations
Accessibility Services requires students to meet programme admission requirements and provide current diagnosis documentation from a qualified licensed professional. The team discusses accommodation needs and available resources to build an individual support plan; the college does not diagnose a disability or fund the diagnosis.
Use current-student counselling
Counselling is confidential and free for current students. It provides short-term, non-clinical mental-health support and can help with stress, transitions, appeals, advocacy and community referrals. The service does not perform clinical assessments, diagnoses, long-term treatment or medical documentation.
Connect to distance-ready supports
The current-student directory also links NLC Tutor, library services, wellness, Elders-in-Residence, multi-faith programming and the Students' Association. Because programmes span live online, anytime online and physical locations, confirm how the chosen service is delivered and whether appointments or authentication are required.
Decision checklist
- Prepare current accessibility documentation before support is needed.
- Use counselling within its short-term non-clinical scope.
- Confirm delivery and access for tutoring, library and community supports.
