College planning

Lakeland College Guide

Choose Lakeland by the program and its actual campus, then assemble admission, cost, housing and support facts for that route.

Choose the campus through the program

Lakeland teaches at Vermilion, at Lloydminster and through online delivery. But those labels are not interchangeable. The live program record should decide where and how you study. Do this before you compare housing or daily travel.

Use current program records

The current catalogue describes more than 50 programs across nine schools. Use it to find the credential, delivery and campus. Then open the specific program page. Admissions, fees and dates can differ.

Compare two concrete study routes

Agricultural Sciences has certificates, diplomas and a Bachelor of Agriculture Technology. Business has face-to-face study at Lloydminster. It also has online options for first-year certificate courses. Check the agriculture location on the program record you chose.

Build a campus-specific budget

A complete comparison joins the selected program to its campus. It also joins the applicant category, published tuition components and residence option. Record delivery mode and credential length beside those facts. Keep the source date. Current intake status and charges can change after this review.

Decision checklist

  • Record the program's exact campus and delivery.
  • Check the live program page for applicant conditions.
  • Build separate tuition, fee, housing and living-cost lines.

Lakeland College Admissions

Apply through the route Lakeland publishes for your applicant type, and treat the program page and offer letter as controlling records.

Check the intake before applying

Credit-program applicants use ApplyAlberta and pay a $90 fee. Apprenticeship applications use MyTradesecrets. That fee is $35. It is non-refundable. Continuing Education normally uses registration. Foundational Learning application is free.

Match requirements to the program

Admission requirements vary by program and every applicant must meet English-language proficiency. Some programs add prerequisites or post-acceptance conditions, so a general admission page cannot establish eligibility by itself.

Route transcripts correctly

Lakeland's requirements page says Lloydminster high-school students follow Saskatchewan curriculum. They must request an official transcript. Its FAQ says current or recent Alberta and Saskatchewan Grade 12 students are received automatically. So the instructions conflict.

Respond to the offer in My Lakeland

Use the My Lakeland task list or Admissions to find out which transcript route controls your file. Accept an offer in My Lakeland. The offer letter sets any tuition deposit. If final documents are missing by the portal due date, admission can be revoked.

Budget the tuition deposit

Many credit programs ask for a tuition deposit to confirm you're attending, and it goes toward your tuition and fees. The amount varies by program but is typically $250 or $500 for domestic students and $1,500 for international students. For 2026–27, base international tuition is $16,100, and some programs charge more. Tuition is adjusted each year under Alberta's Tuition Fee Policy, and your total depends on your program and the courses and credits you take. Paying the deposit or accepting your offer also triggers the email with your link to apply for residence, so do it early if you need a room.

Decision checklist

  • Choose the credit, apprenticeship, continuing-education or foundational route.
  • Ask Admissions when the two Saskatchewan transcript instructions overlap.
  • Follow the offer letter and My Lakeland task list.

Lakeland College Programs

Use live program pages to compare credentials. Keep the campus clear. Keep the delivery clear. Keep the completion requirements clear. Keep the optional work experiences clear.

Start with credential and delivery

The catalogue covers certificates, diplomas, degrees and continuing education. Filter the current list first. Then check campus and delivery on the individual record. Do not assume every school runs at both campuses.

Explore the agriculture portfolio

The Agricultural Sciences page lists options from a one-year General Agriculture certificate to several two-year diplomas and a Bachelor of Agriculture Technology. It describes the Student-Managed Farm and animal-health facilities; check the selected program page for its campus and delivery.

Compare business at Lloydminster

The Business Administration certificate is offered face-to-face at Lloydminster or online. You may study full-time or part-time. The certificate has ten first-year courses. These courses can lead to the certificate or form the common first year for diploma study. This is subject to academic advising.

Treat transfer and co-op as separate choices

The General Business diploma states a minimum 2.0 GPA (grade point average) for completion. It offers an optional 14-to-16-week paid summer co-op application. Being eligible to apply does not guarantee selection. It does not guarantee placement, completion or later employment. Review course sequencing with the academic adviser. Do this before choosing part-time study.

Campus facilities and international tuition

Lakeland has two campuses, Vermilion and Lloydminster, and campus decides which facilities your fees reach. Vermilion's fees include the Equine Centre events arena and pool access, while Lloydminster's recreation fee includes membership at the City of Lloydminster Servus Centre. Online students pay a smaller set of mandatory fees. Check the program page for its campus before you compare costs. Some programs also add specific program fees for course costs that aren't directly tied to instruction, and these vary with your course selection.

Decision checklist

  • Compare the credential and delivery on the live record.
  • Verify which campus supplies the relevant facilities.
  • Read co-op, transfer and completion rules separately.

Lakeland College Student Life

Choose support based on your need and where you will use it. Contact the service early if you need accommodations or ongoing help.

Start with an adviser or school chair

Academic advisers are available in specific schools, while school chairs assist in others. Start with the program's school, and use Student Services or the Commons on either campus when the correct contact is unclear.

Arrange accessibility support

Accessibility services include note takers, exam readers, adaptive technologies and inclusive education. Discuss the required arrangement early; the general page identifies available supports but does not promise a particular accommodation without an individual review.

Use learning and library services

Learner success strategists help with learning and study methods. The peer-tutor route lets students ask for help or become a tutor. Each campus also has a library. Online databases and interlibrary loans are available through Library Services.

Choose the correct service directory

The Student Life directory separately routes health, safety, Indigenous, international and online technical support. Open the relevant service page for current eligibility, delivery and contact details rather than assuming every resource works the same way.

What your mandatory fees cover

Mandatory non-instructional fees pay for health services and counselling. That is $112, covering a nurse, counsellors and a wellness adviser. The fees also pay $77 for the Learning Commons and peer tutoring. They pay for recreation and ACAC athletics, with free admission to games. The listed totals are $389 at Vermilion, $357 at Lloydminster and $218 for online students.

Students' Association and Indigenous supports

The Lakeland College Students' Association charges a 2026–27 membership fee of $273 at Vermilion and $293 at Lloydminster or online. It runs events, awards bursaries and provides a $292 health and benefit plan for most full-time on-campus students, which you can opt out of with other coverage. Indigenous Support Services offers tutoring, cultural teachings, workshops and ceremonies.

Decision checklist

  • Start with the program's adviser or school chair.
  • Contact accessibility services before an accommodation is needed.
  • Use the specific health, Indigenous, international or technical-support route.

Lakeland College Careers & WIL

Link career preparation to the exact program. Use Lakeland's work-integrated learning help. Do not treat an opportunity as a guarantee of an outcome.

Define WIL and contact the campus coordinator

Lakeland says work-integrated learning joins classroom study with workplace experience on purpose. The service lists separate coordinators for Lloydminster and Vermilion. Send your questions to the coordinator for the program's actual delivery.

Prepare with workshops and interviews

Student professional support includes coaching. It also includes career-readiness workshops and interview preparation. Use those steps before you send workplace applications. But preparation does not mean you are selected. It does not mean a placement or a later job.

Clarify placement responsibilities

The WIL team also runs placement logistics. It runs employer partnerships too. It gives ongoing employer support during a placement. Ask who is responsible for what. Ask what the student, college and employer each do. Do this before you treat an opportunity as part of the academic plan.

Keep program conditions explicit

WIL can be part of a program. But the page does not say it belongs to every program or student. Verify the format, eligibility, assessment, dates and compensation on the current program record. Do this before you commit time or costs.

Decision checklist

  • Contact the WIL coordinator tied to the program campus.
  • Use coaching, workshops and interview preparation before applying.
  • Confirm format, eligibility, dates, assessment and compensation.
