Programs and preparatory routes
Confederation's program list covers certificates, diplomas, advanced diplomas, graduate certificates and a nursing degree, plus apprenticeships, workforce training and online study. If you don't meet a program's requirements yet, you may qualify for direct entry to College Access, General Arts and Science, Pre-Health or Pre-Technology to build your academic base.
Co-op terms run May to August
Co-op programs alternate full-time study with a full-time work term from May to August. Examples include Aviation Technician (Aircraft Maintenance), Civil Engineering Technician, Computer Programming, Electrical Engineering Technology and Forestry Technician: Ecosystem Management. Other programs end with a work placement in the final semester, which is the last step before graduation.
Regional campuses and partners
Some programs run at regional campuses, but not all are open to international students because of study permit rules, and some regional sites are in remote areas. International applicants should check which programs are PGWP-aligned, meaning they may lead to a Post-Graduation Work Permit.
Transfer credit
Transfer credit is assessed course by course and needs at least 60% (C), or 70% (B) in some programs. Apply about four months before registration: the page says by April 15 for fall and November 15 for winter, while its FAQ says May 1 and November 1, so aim for the earlier date. You must complete at least 25% of your program at Confederation. International transcripts need a WES, ICAS or Confederation assessment first.
Decision checklist
- Check whether your program has co-op.
- Ask about preparatory programs if you're short.
- Request transfer credit by April 15 for fall.
